Eat till you burst: food you can’t say “No” to
Today I realised that I am developing a bit of a dependency on the cafe downstairs from my office that stocks milk chocolate chunk cookies from the Byron Bay Cookie Company. I love those cookies, and it got me thinking about the different foods that I just can’t get enough of. You know, those foods that you could keep on eating until you think you are going to explode.
After much thought (and a slow afternoon at work), here’s ten that came to mind. Leave a comment and let me know what items you just can’t get enough of:
- Pavlova with a really crunchy crust and lots of marshmallowy goodness in the middle. Must have passionfruit.
- A perfectly ripe washed rind cheese. I buy myself an embarrassingly large hunk every Christmas from the Cheese Room at the Richmond Hill Cafe and Larder.
- Pretty much any kind of pasta. Spaghetti Marinara. Fettucine al Funghi. Penne Matriciana. Lasagne. Or (now that I think of it) any combination of pasta, bolognese and bechamel. It all makes me feel so happy!
- Home made chocolate cake with sinfully thick chocolate icing and a glass of cold milk.
- Fresh prawns with a squeeze of lemon eaten on the beach
- A piping hot parma, with chips, a crunchy crust, dripping with cheese and napoli
- Chicken. Barbecued chicken. Stir-fried chicken. Roast chicken. Chicken casserole. Chicken soup. You get the idea.
- Panacotta gelati from Manarola, Italy. When I was there a few years ago I actually changed hotels to be closer to this particular gelateria. I won’t tell you how many I had.
- Mandarins when they are in season (Like right now! I’ll eat them one after the other like lollies!)
- Thick slices of pasta dura bread still warm from the oven smeared with so much butter that it looks like a cheese sandwich.

I love halva. If there’s a whole brick of the stuff, I just keep on nibbling away at it until I can’t eat any more, and then have a few more slices for good measure.

Hi there, Food is yummy, yummy, yummy!! The foods that I can’t live without are:
* Chocolate - anything that is not white chocoate. Love it in blocks, with nuts, with coffee, chocolate coated coffee beans, chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate and marshmallows.
* I also LOVE choc-chip cookies. I am addicted to the ones they bake fresh at Tescos and only cost 47p each!! I have to restrict myself to only buying 2 at a time, as if I have them I eat them, and any more than two will make me feel ill. One of my favourite TV watching pastimes is to dunk cookies in cups of hot tea or coffee.
*My mothers liptauer cheese with fresh pieces of spring onion, and a spicy paprika
* A delicate chilled rose wine in the summer time
* Pesto - especially homemade with loads of parmesan and pine nuts
* Which brings me to pine nuts - I try and put them on anything
OK, I am just going to salivate into my cup of tea now - Earl Grey to be precise. My favourite is Lapsang Souchong, but I don’t have that today.
Kat xx

Hey there lunchalot and the people out there, in reading our favourite page whilst salivating and then rushing to the kitchen in an attempt to pretend we can all spend 5-7 hours in the kitchen cooking something to remember…. who am I kidding!
I would just like to say in defence to all of the poor men and women who are on the ‘meal end’ of an extravegent cook, HOW ARE WE TO COPE with such beautiful food being passed before our eyes and our wonderful providers and still stay trim tort and terrific… please provide suggestions.
Love your work lunchalot!
