Oh yeah, I'm right there with you about chasing that memorable food while overseas. I once changed hotels in Italy to be closer to a particular gelati shop. Mmmm... gelati...

Jerry Seinfeld would love this cafe - he's got a real bee in his bonnet about pesto. Personally i can't get enough of the stuff, especially a realy good home made one. Possibly one of the best culinary experiences of my life was a baguette i ate at a cafe in Amsterdam about 10 years ago. It was a perfect baguette, warm, with fresh ripe tomatoes, succulent mozarella cheese (not that strange rubbery yellow stuff you buy in supermarkets, the real thing)and i was enjoying it so much that i didn't want to put it down on my plate to pick up my napkin. I ate it in one frenzied go and by the time i finished the pesto sauce had dripped down my arms nearly as far as my elbows! Then, after cleaning myself up, i ordered another. To my devastation i was told that the kitchen was closed. This necessitated another trip to the same cafe the following day - needless to say, the joint i smoked that made the sandwish taste even better, also made the cafe extremely difficult to find. But it was worth the trouble.
