6.00pm: Bedtime Brownies

Heh heh… we’ve just sent two children under the age of three off home with bellies full of sugar-enriched brownies before bedtime.

Sweet dreams Ben and Julie! LOL

5.00pm: Spinach pie is hit with 1.5 year olds!

Leo, our little 1.5 year old friend, can’t get enough of the spinach pie. Here’s the exact recipe for Ben and Julie.

Mix a 500g tub of ricotta with about 4 eggs, chopped onion, a generous few handfuls of chopped parsley, half a bunch of chopped spinach and some crushed garlic. Place in a baking tray, sprinkle some cheese on top and layer about 6 sheets of filo pastry over the top. Spray with olive oil spray. Bake for about 30 minutes.

4.30pm: Nothing like nanna’s cooking

I once found a Maltese restaurant and I was so excited. I had never seen a Maltese retaurant before, and having grown up knowing quite a few Maltese dishes, I thought it might be fun to try some Maltese food that hadn’t been cooked by a relative for a change.

I was unbelievably disappointed. I ordered ravjul, which is a big Maltese ravioli, and it was overcooked, sludgy, and the sauce tasted like it had come out of a bottle.

I guess there’s nothing like nanna’s cooking.

3.00pm: The loose-leaf vegetarian

Zoeball was vegetarian until the lasagne came out of the oven 15 minutes ago.

I will say no more.

2.30pm: Spinach, ricotta, parsley filo pie

Zoeball has gone veg, so I made her a spinach pie.

2.00pm: Medicinal bagels?

I never knew that bagels and chutney could be medicinal. Zoeball just arrived with a monster hangover and is tucking into the bagels, chutney and cheese like nobody’s business. She seems a little more human now too.

bagelplate

I left the last batch of bagels in the oven accidentally, and when I turned the oven back on to preheat it for the lasagne they became petrified bagels. These ones would really crack a tooth or two.

1.30pm: Lasagne-cam

Here is a naked lasagne. She is now in the oven getting dressed in a cheese coat ready for when the next batch of guests arrive. I did have the webcam on the oven before, but I thought that was a bit voyeuristic so I moved it.

Isn’t she pretty?
