Hiya Tatty and Kate,

I am glad my mango ramblings bring a little bit of summer sparkle to a northern hemisphere winter.

The only way to eat mango is over the sink. If you're eating them properly it should be very messy! I cut the cheeks off these mangoes and then had a bit of a frenzy sucking the seeds over the sink. Soooo good...

Never mind. Summer will come again to you too - I promise.

Ohhhhh the scent of a ripe mango is unlike any other, and drives me to far off slits of memories....the heady scent bursting from the juicy slippery fruit grasped shamelessly between my fingers as I stand over the sink. I gnaw on the flesh, not minding the juices as they run down my forearm. The delight in cleansing it's taste off my skin. Ah, the total sensory pleasure of a fully ripe mango.

Even as I stare out the window at a colorless winter, the beauty of a bright reddish orange mango sticks in my mind. Yum. Thanks for the memory jolt!

Hello Ladylunchalot,

May I say that your website is looking very professional - I am tres impressed! The photos are of a particular high quality.

I find this chutney recipe very tempting, though I have been eyeing the very sad looking mangoes in Tesco, which are not looking very ripe or juicy at the moment.

Oranges, pears and winter vegetables are in season at the moment, but due to the power of British consumer demand, bananas are always available in the shops. Hence I will try and dig out a recipe for banana bread for Feb 11th, my favourite banana recipe!
