I LOVE recipes from ancient cookbooks! Glad to hear it keeps for a while, although that jar in the photo didn't last a week.

I have an ancient cookbook from the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind. It has a similar recipe for "passionfruit butter" which I have made several times. In sterilised jars it keeps in the fridge for a couple of months.

Delicious. I love the market. I go on Fridays, early afternoon, when they start auctioning stuff. Trays of fish, $10.

Those photos are lovely, and being in the death throes of a very snowy week, they are a soothing tonic to this winter-weary soul.

I SO look forward to Spring!

All those mornings that I couldn't sleep and I never once thought of going down to the Vic Market! I've only even gone early when I've set my alarm!
Have you ever been to the market REALLY late on a Sunday - like just before they're about to close? You can get some unbelievably cheap meat and seafood from the owners who just want to get rid of it before they get their next batch in, even from the organic butchers. Although, there's is something satisfying I guess about getting to the market at the crack of dawn, before all the tourists arrive!
